We are inviting you to spend three nights with Wildfitness in West Lexham, Norfolk. For those of you have not paid a visit to this part of the world before, it is one of a few places in England that has retained its original heritage and resisted development. Its unspoilt coastline, beautiful countryside, forests and heathland offer up great opportunities to get closer to nature.

Over the course of the long weekend, you will be taught by our expert head coaches how to move well and with confidence.  We will be staying at the rural retreat of West Lexham, sleeping in cosy bell tents, with unique bright decor or glamping in one of the stunning treehouses.

We will be running and climbing, playing games and mixing high intensity with serious de-stressing.  We don't want to provide too much detail as we want there to be an element of surprise!

Host

Wildfitness Head coach, Paul Ranson. After achieving a BSc combined Honours in sports science and geography and minus a few long-haul adventures, Paul has been coaching since 2006. He has a passion for his practice in helping people enjoy their physicality whilst changing mindsets to what he believes it is to be truly healthy and fit.

Chef

Nutritionist, Kiira Cabrera. Kiira is based in Barcelona and has studied nutrition, circus arts and dance. This duality has encouraged her to investigate what we eat, when we eat and how it can strongly influence our physical development and our overall health.

Price includes

What to expect
Thursday
Arrivals, 4pm onwards.
You will be greeted by one of the team and be given a brief tour of West Lexham manor, which will be your new gym for the next few days. You will then be escorted to your decadent tipi or treehouse.

Playful Movement Intro, 5:00pm.
Here we will introduce ourselves to one another and build trust through physicality, play and without a doubt some laughter too. This is where the metaphoric play contract for the long weekend will begin and be signed!

Introduction to Wildfitness, 6:30pm.
A more formal introduction to one another, the Wildfitness team, the retreat as a whole and the Wildfitness history and philosophy behind our approach.

Friday
Morning Movement Articulation and Preparation, followed by Wild Locomotion 8am-9:30am.
This regular morning session is a gentle wake up for the body and incorporates movements that help ease the common tightness and weakness in our bodies caused as a result of sedentary work and modern day lifestyles in general. The aim is to explore each joint, mobilising through sticky areas and giving your mind a new body map and freedom for movement.
Wild locomotion; This is a follow on from the above session but the intensity is ramped up and your coordination, mobility, strength and awareness will all be stimulated and challenged simultaneously.

Re-connection and Morning Dip, 9:30-10am.
We will take some time here to focus on ourselves in nature and the symbiosis between the two. By consciously focusing on nature and all its sounds, textures, smells we can awaken our senses that are often dulled by hyperstimulation. As part of this re-connection, we will focus on the breath and its power to control our physiology and ability to cope with exposure to the elements. This involves taking a morning wild dip in the beautiful lake and hopefully, you will reap the benefits that this type of controlled exposure has on you throughout the day.

These sessions become part of our daily routine with some layers of complexity added accordingly each day. Incorporating them into a regular practice will help reset and energise the body.

Brunch 10:30am-12pm

The Art of Wild Running, 12:30pm
This workshop will focus on the biomechanics needed for efficient running. We show you how to utilise certain features that make us amongst the best runners in the animal kingdom. We will also delve into the psychology of running and leave the obsession with calories, time and speedway behind us and instead focus on the moment and freedom of cruising through nature’s beauty. We will then put our new found efficient techniques into practice and meander our way along the river to Castle Acre Fort for the next session.

Castle Acre Combo, 2:30pm.
The remains of a medieval motte-and-bailey castle provide an appropriate atmospheric setting and fantastic features for this session which will incorporate some natural movement skill development along with a nice pinch of HGH (Human Growth Hormone) fuelling intensity. This hormone helps with bodily functioning, including gaining and losing muscle mass, fat reduction, ageing, growth and concentration.

Wild Living Talk, 4pm.
This talk will cover the triage approach of living, moving and eating to creating a life in natural balance. We want to help you balance the appropriate amount time challenging and stimulating yourself, making sure you leave time for rest and relaxation and also the time to enjoy species specific nutrition. In most societies, humans are often over stimulated and hyper nourished, by using nature and our ancient wisdom we go back at 200,000 years to help us recognise what it means to be healthy.

We will also make good use of the fantastic pine and holm oak trees and unleash our ape heritage through arboreal movement which will incorporate the natural movement skills of balancing, climbing, crawling, hanging and brachiating.

Think dodecathlon (12 movements) which will incorporate running, swimming, balancing, carrying, throwing, lifting, crawling patterns, brachiating, jumping, vaulting, climbing and a little bit of walking albeit on a slackline! 30 minutes of natural movement bliss where newly acquired skills will be brought together and put into context; beats 30 minutes on a treadmill any day.
