Crete Packing Tips

Crete Packing Tips

  • 1-2 pairs of running shoes (well-used)
(If you are buying new shoes you may like to buy lightweight flat-soled shoes that are suitable for "bare-foot style" running -which you will be taught on the course)
  • One pair of walking shoes or sturdy cross-trainers for hiking
  • 4 -5 pairs of exercise clothes - including good quality socks e.g. 1000 mile
  • Casual and comfy clothes for general walking and hanging out. Summer clothes for the day plus a jumper or thin fleece for the evening when it cools down.
  • One light-weight water-proof shell.
  • Swimsuit
  • Swim goggles (not mandatory)
  • One sarong or similar
  • Evening - casual and comfy clothes recommended. It can be nippy once the sun goes down so be sure to bring warm evening wear
  • Hat (wide-brimmed recommended)
  • Torch / head torch for moving around after dinner (not mandatory)
  • Day sack / small rucksack.
  • One pair sunglasses.
  • High-factor 30+ sunscreen (bring plenty) and after-sun cream.
  • Alarm Clock.
  • Stopwatch (or phone/watch with stopwatch) - for taking heartbeat. We do not recommend you bring Heart Rate Monitors.
  • One camera and a large memory card.
  • Boxing gloves (10-14oz) - if you are sensitive to wearing other people's boxing gloves, you might like to bring your own gloves (not mandatory and we have lots). These can be purchased at many sporting shops or on line at: www.fitness-superstore.co.uk.
  • Toiletries - we provide wonderful organic home made soap & shampoo but not conditioner
  • Medical Kit - we provide plasters, disinfectant, anti-histamine cream and pills, E45 cream, vaseline and antiseptic cream, but feel free to supplement this with you own preferred supplies if you like. Note: if you are concerned about a bad tummy, we recommend BioCare TravelGuard capsules - they contain a probiotic, garlic and antiseptic herbs to help maintain intestinal health and fight off bugs.
  • Books - the number depends how quickly you read.
  • Some Euros for presents and drinks etc (we suggest €150 for one week). If you plan on doing extra massages or extra activites on your day off you may want to bring more. You can withdraw this from an ATM with a credit card or bank card on arrival at the airport.

Please note:-
- If you don't bring everything on the list it is not the end of the world!
- Laundry – there is a daily service but as everything is solar-powered it is communal. So although we can wash sports kit etc. we suggest you bring enough underwear for the week!
- Power: the electricity is produced entirely by solar power and in order to avoid electrical appliances being left plugged in to re-charge and draining the power, most of the rooms do not have plug sockets. Electrical appliances can, however, be charged in our office, but we recommend you take this as an opportunity to leave laptops and hairdryers at home and to use your mobiles as little possible. Wifi is available if really needed.
- Flip-flops/ sandals will get dirty so don't bring special ones.
