Crete Packing Tips

  • 1-2 pairs of running shoes (well-used)
(If you are buying new shoes you may like to buy lightweight flat-soled shoes that are suitable for "bare-foot style" running -which you will be taught on the course)
  • One pair of walking shoes or sturdy trainers for hiking
  • 4 -5 pairs of exercise clothes - shorts - tops - bra tops - good quality socks e.g. 1000 mile
  • One sarong or similar
  • Casual clothes for general walking, trips and hanging out. Summer clothes for the day plus a jumper and some warmer clothes for the evening when it cools down.
  • One tight T-shirt, cycling top or rash-vest for swimming in (this is v. important for sun protection & to prevent chaffing - make sure it covers your shoulders)
  • Hat and high-factor sun cream
  • Swimsuit & swimming goggles
  • Something to sleep in
  • Going out stuff – we go out one night!
  • A water bottle if you prefer to drink out of a metal container,  otherwise plastic ones are provided.
  • Torch/flashlight.  A small one is provided on your room key ring so you don’t really need one (unless you want to go and find badgers at night).
  • Day sack
  • Alarm clock
  • Stopwatch (or phone/watch with stopwatch) - for taking heartbeat
  • Camera and lots of film
  • Books – the number depends on how fast you read!
  • Boxing gloves (6-10oz) - if you are sensitive to wearing other people's boxing gloves or are attending one of our longer courses, you may like to bring your own gloves (not mandatory but highly recommended!) These can be purchased at many sporting shops or on line at: http://www.fitness-superstore.co.uk
  • Some Euros for presents, drinks when you go out etc (suggested 150 Euros for 1 week).  You can get this out of an ATM with a bank card on arrival at the airport.
  • Medkit with plasters, disinfectant, anti-histamine cream and pills, after-sun cream, E45 cream, Vaseline, antiseptic cream
  • Home made soap is provided made with unheated olive oil – it’s like food for the skin

Please note:
- Laundry – there is a daily service but as everything is solar-powered it is communal. So although we can wash sports kit etc. we suggest you bring enough underwear for the week!
- There are no power points in rooms. Electrical appliances can be charged in our office but we recommend you take this as an opportunity to leave the laptops and hairdryers at home and use your phone as little possible!  Wifi is available if really needed.
- Flip-flops/ sandals will get dirty so don't bring special ones.
