Prepare yourself for a Wildfitness course!
The most important preparation you can do for your Wildfitness course is to ensure that you are resilient to injury. When you arrive at Wildfitness you will receive a full postural assessment that will identify any imbalances - or faulty movement patterns. We will then give you stretches and exercises that will move you towards a fully functional and resilient body. However, if you arrive in a condition where it is dangerous to do certain activities or to train hard, you may have to miss out on some of the activities or worse end up with an injury that means you won't be able to do any of the activities!
The best thing that you can do to prepare yourself for the course if you do have a tendency to injury, is to have a full assessment at least 2 -3 months before the commencement of the course. We recommend doing this with one of our Wildfitness trainers for further details on how to contact these trainers and where they are situated in the U.K please call 0845 056 8343 or email info@wildfitness.com.
You can also get assessments and exercises from Physiotherapists, Osteopaths, Chiropractors and some pilates specialists although we feel that our approach is aimed at not just getting you out of pain but setting you up for the stresses your body will be under during training. Our philosophy is to treat you like the race horse that you are!
If you do not find the time to get a full assessment and personalised programme before coming on the course bear in mind that any core training, functional training, balance and stability training is going to help reduce the chances of injury. Also any techniques that decrease any unnecessary tension in your body may make a huge difference - techniques include meditation, yoga, Feldenkrais and the Alexander technique.
Everything else you can pick up on the course - it doesn't matter if you haven't done any of the activities before or how unfit you are. Obviously the fitter you are then the more activity you can do and the more you can get out of the course, - this especially applies to running and swimming. Use the course as a goal to aim for and start loving your training!
