SITUATION IN KENYA

Updated April 2008

On 28th February 2008 a power-sharing agreement was signed between President Kibaki and opposition leader Odinga.  The reaction across Kenya to the proposed coalition government has been largely positive and peaceful.

The Malindi and Watamu area, where Wildfitness run courses, remained peaceful throughout the disputes in January and Wildfitness courses have all run as planned. The civil unrest that did occur in the country was mostly confined to the western corner of Kenya, far from the coast where we run our courses. The tourist areas have remained calm and unchanged with no problems reported affecting any tourist visitors to the international hotels in Nairobi, the beach resorts at the coast and the wildlife parks and reserves. If you plan to visit other parts of Kenya before or after your course we advise you check the FCO website (www.fco.gov.uk).
